    You can tell who sent it

    Before a bank, court, employer or agency can send you anything, it is checked against the companies register and a responsible person approves its Keepable account. The item then shows the verified organisation that sent it, not only a display name supplied with a message.

    What lands is the original, not a picture of one and not a link that expires. It stays in your Keepable when you change devices, and the seal lets you check later that it is still the same file.

    A landlord, an embassy, a new employer, or a court can check the copy without an account. Their own browser shows whether it is the file that was sent and whether it has changed.

The seal is calculated from the file itself, so the check travels with the copy.

What is the fingerprint, actually?
A SHA-256 digest: the whole file run through a standard calculation that produces one 64-character value. Change a single character of the document, or a single pixel of a scan, and the value that comes out is completely different. It is not a summary of the file and you cannot work backwards from it to the contents.
If the file never leaves my phone, what does the check send?
The signed proof is checked on your device first. After it passes, your browser may send only the file's SHA-256 fingerprint to look up optional record details. The document itself, its name and its contents stay on your device.
What proof travels with the document?
Keepable's document signature, its certificate chain and a signed snapshot of the sending organisation and send time. The verifier reads those from the PDF. There is no receipt code to find or type.
Does the seal prove who sent it, or only that it has not changed?
Keepable signs the PDF and the historical sender snapshot together. The verifier checks that signature, the exact bytes in your copy and the recorded time Keepable accepted the sender's send action. It proves what Keepable sealed for the named sender; it does not claim that the sender used a separate signing key of its own.
What if the sender goes out of business, or Keepable does?
Keep the PDF and any audit export with your records. The signature and sender snapshot remain in the file, but Keepable's public verifier relies on our currently published private-root and authorised-signer list. We do not promise that browser verification will remain available after a certificate expires or the service closes.
Can I check something I uploaded myself the same way?
Yes, and it comes back saying so. Your own uploads are sealed too, so you can prove nothing has changed since you put it here. There is no sender name on that one, because there was no sender. See the page on your own documents.

A seal proves that a document has not changed since it was sent, and that it came from the organisation named on it. It does not tell you the contents are true. If your bank sends you a statement with the wrong balance, the seal proves your bank sent you that statement. The balance is still an argument between you and your bank.
